16 Storm - Feature

Although there are a few vendors selling '16 software by mail-order, there's also some programs on the web to download. John Elliott, veteran PCW coder who has ported CP/M to the '16, has created a program that reads "Infocom"-style text-adventure games. These games are of a universal format, so any machine can run the games if the software to interpret them is available. Elliott's version, called "Z-Machine", is compatible with most types of game. There are hundreds of them to download, so be prepared for a long night in!

The Zip file for this program is at the bottom of the page, as are links to sites where adventure games can be downloaded. NOTE: When using RAWRITE.EXE to uncompress the files onto a 720kb floppy disk, shut down into MS-DOS if using Windows 95/98, otherwise you'll get an error message. If you're running Linux or another flavour of Unix, use the dd command. Happy gaming!
